Dr. Raine Weiner is a licensed clinical psychologist who graduated from the University of Michigan in 1981 and received her doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology in 1986. She ran a group home for adolescents in Los Angeles before moving her practice to Maryland in 1988. In 1991, Dr. Weiner co-founded Potomac Valley Psychotherapy Associates and the Eating Disorders Center of Potomac Valley with offices in Rockville and Bethesda, Maryland. She was chosen as a “Top Therapist” in Washingtonian Magazine.

Dr. Weiner enjoys working with adolescents and adults in individual, group, and family therapy. Clients can be seen in her North Bethesda office. She is also able through PSYPACT to see clients virtually in over 40 states.  She views psychotherapy as an interactive, creative, and exciting process. Clients are approached with warmth, sensitivity, and respect within a safe, supportive environment in which to make positive changes. Dr. Weiner's greatest strength is in her ability to genuinely communicate her care and concern, allowing for greater comfort in opening up and forming a deep therapeutic alliance. While Dr. Weiner works with clients who have a wide range of issues, she has particular interest in relationship difficulties, eating disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, parenting concerns, and trauma survivors. She also specializes in easing life transitions between adolescence, young adulthood, and adulthood.

Among the organizations in which Dr. Weiner is a member are the American Psychological Association, the Maryland Psychological Association, the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, the Mid-Atlantic Group Psychotherapy Society, the Academy for Eating Disorders, the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, and the National Eating Disorders Association. She has presented at local and national conferences on such topics as adolescents in psychotherapy, group therapy for teens and adults, coping with depression and anxiety, challenges in parenting, and treatment of eating disorders. In 2007, the American Psychological Association filmed Dr. Weiner in a DVD, “Teenage Eating Disorders,” which included a demonstration of and interview about her work. Dr. Weiner also spoke about the mental health parity laws in a congressional briefing at the United States Capitol entitled, “Eating Disorders Treatments: Rarely Covered Health Care.”
